Favorite Quote: The world will try to make you small. It will tell you to be modest, and meek. But the world is wrong. You should get to feel and love and live as boldly as you want.

Story Synopsis: Three women, separated by time and geography, find themselves irrevocably connected. Sabine, Charlotte, and Alice, all become vampires in different ways, but how they adapt to their new undead reality amplifies their character. From the 1500s to 2019, this story spans what it means to be a woman with hopes, dreams, and limitations - especially what it means to go from prey to predator.

Why does this book beguile? I love how Schwab managed to weave three lives across multiple centuries together. The voices of each Sabine, Charlotte, and Alice are unique, like their experiences; however, the way they each experience their humanity and their vampirism is similar-ish. This book is about love, hunger, and authenticity. And obviously, Toxic Lesbian Vampires. HERE FOR IT.
